A great day was planned, a hike over Bakewell but the weather stopped us in our tracks. Heavy rain showers and flooding 🥺.To Robs delight we then planned to go to Cannock Chase. This is just on our doorstep. we set off from Marquise Drive and headed out into the most beautiful forest you can imagine. The sun was shining and we were heading to a pub, surrounded by trees, what more can you wish for. Squeeze in for a selfie! Where is the view Rob??
Rambling through Cannock Chase is amazing as there are so many routes to take. We even went on a few paths that Dave and I haven’t been on before!
Eventually, emerging from the trees, we stepped out onto Milford Common and the Barley Mow was in sight. Pints 🍺 and a gin 🍸 in reach and boy did we need refreshments.
After a rather harassed drink 🐝, the little blighters were everywhere. They liked my gin even more than me…. and I like it a lot😳 we continued on our way.
An ice cream van was parked in the car park at Milford and yes you’ve guessed it we had a cone with green sauce 😋 then headed back into the forest, past stepping stones, lakes, pools and beautiful scenery to Birches valley for a tasty cup of coffee and a scrumptious flapjack. Only another mile and a half to go but my legs were aching and then the heavens opened. Quite refreshing after the heat of the sun.We reached the car wet, tired but very happy. What a wonderful walk, so much to see and do at Cannock Chase and it’s on our doorstep. Well worth a visit. Xx🐧xx
